Review of 6865 Captain America's Avenging Cycle

 Hi, today I'm reviewing this old but gold set, my favorite super hero, Captain America.

The Box

The box dimension is 19.1cm x 14.1cm x 4.6cm. It weighs about 110 grams. This set is launched for the Avengers one movie in 2012 when the Chitauris lead by Loki attacked New York City. The back of the box showing two flicking missles launched by the chitauri to attack Captain America.

This is the instruction booklet that was given in the set. Along with it there is some comics with the scenes that you can relate to the set.

The Minifigures

This is the design of Captain America and his iconic shield back in 2012. The shield was dark red in colour which gave him a more realistic looking shield rather than the new design of bright red shield that looks a bit cartoon-ish. As you can see the 6865 Capt. has lesser brown belt compared to the new Capt. and he looks much angrier than his new counterpart. Maybe because he just came out of the ice.

 These are the second and third minifigures in this set. I feel that they are quite under-appreciated bunch of minifigures. They actually have pearl gold heads if you notice, and quite nice and detailed printing as well. There are two designs as Alien General at the bottom and Alien Foot Soldier. The general is holding a quite big purple laser gun and the armors are quite nicely printed. If you want to build an army, build this army. The prices are quite cheap I would say.

The Build

The build of this set is quite simple which consist of a bike, a plane and a bunker. No printed parts in this set, they are all stickers. However I like the Chitauri's ride with those pearl gold parts. Even the bunker has three gold pieces. Maybe gold are cheap metal to them, haha.

This dark red bike is the main reason I bought this set. It was magnificient! If you are a bike collector, this is the one you cannot miss! When Capt is on his bike, you can put his shield at the back of the bike nicely and it attaches very well and stable. The colour matches of dark red and blue is very nice and striking. The blue vents attached to the side of the back is also a nice addition to the bike.

These are the line up of the full sets when you display the whole thing. The general is on the plane as his rank but when Loki is here, he has to stand on the floor. Haha.

Pros

I like the design of the dark red bike of Captain America. Its very nice to be displayed and you can buy a lot of these and sell off extra Captain to get the Chitauris to build a big army.

Cons

Maybe this set is too simple. LEGO can give one or two printed parts as to compensate?

Conclusion

This is a very nice set to be collected back when the Avengers aired. Now that the movie has got so many sequel and so many new Captain America appeared in LEGO, this set becomes a collector item and not so sought after. However according to brickset, the price is still stable at RM83 for a sealed set and RM68 for a used set which is quite reasonable for a retired set. Thanks for reading!
